How To Paint On Wood Using Stencils

how to paint on wood using stencils

How to stencil on wood using a dry brush technique. gather your materials: a paintable surface, chalk paint, foam brush, stencil of your choice, painter’s tape. figure out where you want to place your stencil on your prepared surface. in my case, i needed to move my stencil, but yours might be small enough to stay stationary.. I attempted to use the stencil i wanted ( also by waverly) on the outside part and the first problem was being able to get it to stay and stick, if i used painters tape it didn’t hold it in place and even regular scotch and clear like stepping tape took off all the paint back down the the base wood.. Learning how to stencil is a fabulous way to bring out your inner-artists and create a unique handcrafted finish on any surface: walls, floors, furniture, wood, metal, paper, fabric.stencilling is easy as it is fun and inspires a feeling of creative satisfaction. pieces made by hand have a certain charm and a vibe that is undeniable; a quality that store-bought art cannot compete with. not to.

When you start painting your stencil, gently dab the paint straight down onto the surface. do not rub it back and forth as if you were using a paintbrush. this will definitely cause paint to squeeze under the stencil and make a mess. just gently up and down. you can use craft paints, leftover latex paint, chalk paint, pretty much anything will. Place you stencil down and apply minimal paint to your stencil brush. i’m talking hardly any paint on your brush. and when you have hardly any paint on your brush off load your paint in a paper towel before you apply it to the stencil. when you have minimal paint on your brush dab dab dab into the stencil. do not use brush stokes. i know that.
